Surface mounting posts, where possible, increases the longevity of a post. The low profile look of the post anchor gives you improved appearance compared to many wrap around style brackets. See Instructions for height restrictions and proper use and installation.
Includes hardware for a wood surface installation:

Use an off the shelf 1-1/4" dia. by 2" deep hole saw to cut a pilot cut for the tube.
Use a 1-3/4" dia. hole saw for 6x6 and 8x8 post anchors.
Use a 3 lbs mini sledge to drive tube into post beyond the depth of hole saw cut.
Pre-drill holes and drive lag screws into the post.
A sharp-edged, lightweight, rigid tube cuts deep into the core of the wood post and holds the post and anchor together longer that just screws alone. This makes the connection more visually appealing. Where more strength is desired, use an optional Post Brace.
A truly innovative and effective solution.
To properly secure the post anchor to a wood surface, ensure that there is wood blocking like a 2x6 or 2x8 below the deck boards and between the joist.
Pre-drill the screw holes if they are too close to the edge of a board to prevent splitting.
AND EVEN CONCRETE OR MASONRY
A sharp-edged, lightweight, rigid tube cuts deep into the core of the wood post and diverts enough load away from the screws to increase the overall load resistance.
A truly innovative and effective solution.
It is now possible for a surface mounted anchor to be used for residential code compliant wood railings.
AND EVEN CONCRETE OR MASONRY
Set one screw to secure the anchor while pre-drilling the other holes. Drill 1/2" deeper than the length of the screw.
Once the holes are drilled, remove the template anchor and position the post and anchor over the holes for attachment.
One concrete screw per corner is enough to keep the post and anchor secure given the pull-out resistance of each screw.
This model will work with posts between 3-½" and 4" square.
This model works with nominal 4x6 posts and up to true 4"x 6".
Great for railings, pergolas, pavilions and support columns. Secures posts between 5-½" and 6" square.
The model is often used for large timber construction projects and secures posts between 7-¼" to 8" square.
It is not designed for use on surfaces higher than 600mm (CAN) except if built in accordance with the assemblies tested in the published engineering reports and if accepted by your local building authority. They may not be suitable for residential rails in your area. See Instructions and Intertek engineering reports for guidance about your intended use.
The Titan Post Anchor has been independently tested by world-renowned engineering firm Intertek for residential compliance in the United States and Canada when installed at recommended post height and spacing.
The USA tests have been carried out in accordance with AC273 for Handrails and Guards as set out by the IRC. Canadian tests have been done in accordance with the Canadian Building Code with applicability for all ten provinces.
