The Wood Post Anchor is ideally used for surface mounting wood posts to decks, porches, stairs, pergolas, gazebos and support columns.
Use a hole saw with a 1-1/4" diameter (4x4) or a 1-3/4" diameter (6x6) which matches the tube diameter. Plunge the hole saw into the center of the post marked by diagonal lines to its full depth (about 2"). The kerf will act as a pilot cut for the tube. Align the sharp edge of the tube with the kerf and set it into the cut. Square the base to the post and drive the tube into the rest of the post with a 3 lbs sledge hammer.
Do not use this product for a residential railing if the surface is 30" or higher (USA) or 600mm or higher (CAN).
If you wish to use this on a surface 30" (USA) or 600mm (CAN) or higher you must
a) build an assembly exactly as depicted in our Engineering Reports and
b) obtain approval from a local building official.
Do not use this product for cable railings, vinyl railing systems. It has not been tested for those applications.
It is not designed for stand alone posts. If you wish to use it in such a way, a post brace is recommended and sold separately.
Not necessarily. Engineering Reports are for guidance only and complying with them does not necessarily mean your structure will be accepted by local building inspectors or engineers. Varying from the Engineering Reports in any way is outside the scope of the report.
You will find the latest Engineering Reports at https://titanbp.com/resources/engineering-reports-new/
Engineering Reports define the range of use and the limits of the product so that you may have as much information as possible to share with your local code officials to determine its safety and applicability to your proposed project.
You should use the exact fasteners provided in the kit and you must do so if you wish to mimic the tested assemblies referenced in an Engineering Report.
Select a portion of the post that is free of knots in the bottom 4" of the post. The tube will not cut through a knot and the post may crack if you drive into a knot.
Do not use a post that is so dehydrated that it has twisted, warped or cracked. Most construction softwoods have a moisture content of between 14%-20%.
Douglas fir is harder than many common hardwoods. Therefore, it is not a recommended wood to use. If it is used, follow the instructions for installing in hardwood.
Yes but you must follow the hardwood instructions because the tube cannot be impaled into hardwood.
Use double 2x blocking between joists as depicted in Engineering Reports.
On a wood surface, drive the deck screws a bit deeper to pull the post into plumb. On concrete surfaces, place stainless or galvanized flat washer under the corner side walls on the low side to adjust the post to plumb.
You must use a concrete screw or fastener on concrete and follow the manufacturers installation instructions.
Galvanized steel and powder coated.
The based is a 316 stainless and the tube is a 302 or 304.
Titan Wood Post Anchor
“The Titan has it all. It's got the strength that is what you're looking for but the look is outstanding and combined with the other features I put on this railing system it was the right choice. And I'm happy about that. ”
Bob Evans - Big Rideau Lake, ON
Snap'n Lock™ Baluster Kits
“We are thrilled to have used your Snap'n Lock Balusters for the first time on a deck we recently completed. The client was so thrilled they asked us to re-do their front entrance way with Snap'n Lock Balusters as well.

Titan Wood Post Anchor
“Received the package with "Titan" base anchor samples. Thank you very much. I have them set up at our shop. Three gazebos where we have used the "Titan" base anchors. Hopefully they show clearly for you. Two are with the 4x4 and the one is with the 6x6. The 14' gazebo with 6x6 posts and no bottom rails is incredibly strong with them. I am still so glad we discovered them! ”
Jay Leis - Brunner, ON
Shadow Rail Connectors
“I love my Shadow Rail Connectors. They were as easy as 1,2,3 to install and couldn't look any better! Highly recommend!".
Noel Gonzales - Sequin, TX
Aluminum Post Caps
“These fit nicely and are a rigid metal cap. The paint looks uniform and slick and they fit nicely on a 5.5 x 5.5 square post. I cut several in half for the half posts that are attached to the house. I think these will last for many years."
Jessica Wildeman - Divide, CO
